To reduce the speed of air being sucked towards a compressor turbine wheel, typically an exhaust gas supercharger turbine for an internal combustion engine, guide vanes (18) are located in the path of air being supplied to an inlet (3) of the compressor (1) which are positioned to impart a rotating component of motion to the air stream of air column being supplied to the compressor, the guide vanes extending essentially perpendicularly to the plane of radially positioned damping elements (14), while being inclined with respect to a radial line (19) passing through the axis of rotation of the compressor and, typically, of the housing (8) which has an air-pervious circumferential wall (8). The speed of air being supplied to the turbine thus can be reduced below Mach 1, thereby increasing the efficiency of operation of the turbine while substantially reducing its noise level.

The metal cores 7 are provided with openings 12, and the blades 9 are arranged with axles arranged in them (Fig. 4).
Blades can be equipped with a shell 13 of sound-absorbing material (Fig. 6.8).
The blades 9 may be located at equal angles to the radius R of the housing 1.

The main elements 3 and the noise absorbing elements located downstream enter the inlet of the turbo-compressor 2 and then to the wheel 11 of the turbo-compressor. Due to the presence of the inlet guide vanes 9, the direction of the intake flow of the working fluid is changed, a vortex flow is created, as a result, the input flow rate to the turbo-compressor wheel 11 is reduced, thereby reducing the noise level.
In addition, the noise level can be reduced by supplying the blades 9 with a shell 13 of sound-absorbing material or, depending on the required distribution of the flow turbulence at the entrance to the wheel 11 of the turbocharger, by varying the angle of the blades to the radius of the housing 1.
